BP in the Community Houston is the US headquarters for BP and home to the largest concentration of BP people and assets in the world. We’re glad to be part of this community, and we’re committed to educational and volunteer programs to help shape the fabric of the Houston community. In addition to financial support, our employees are actively volunteering their time and talents to support community organizations and schools in their hometowns.

SPOTLIGHT: BP’s NAGP helps two local nonprofits

Krause Children’s Center The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and serve some 2,000 customers is not the only thing IST’s North America Gas and Power (NAGP) can do; they can also respond quickly in the time of need to our local communities. During the holiday season, the executive director at Krause notified Orlando Alvarez, Chief Operating Officer of NAGP’s South Gas business and Krause Executive Sponsor, that the facility had a great need and requested crucial support from NAGP.

Texas Women’s Conference features Suze Orman

Nationally known financial expert and television personality Suze Orman spoke at the 10th Annual Texas Conference for Women last November, sponsored by BP. Orman talked about her life and her experiences from her initial period of struggle to her achievements later on in her career, which earned her a standing ovation from the large crowd. Orman has been called “a force in the world of personal finance” and a “one-woman financial advice powerhouse” by USA Today.

Across the Nation: BP sponsors Solar Decathlon in D.C.

BP is a regular sponsor of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon, an annual engineering and architectural competition in which teams of students from universities across the country compete in designing and constructing innovative solar homes on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. This year, student teams from 20 colleges from the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Puerto Rico designed and built homes that operate on solar power only. Teams are judged on how much excess electricity they can generate.
